With the growing popularity in organic farming, HKRI Care & Share, HKR International Limited’s (“HKRI”) corporate volunteer team, co-organised an organic farm tour with Produce Green Foundation on 29 July. We invited over 30 children from Christian Family Service Centre (Family Energizer) and Jockey Club Fu Shin Lutheran Integrated Service Centre to experience organic farming and learn more about green living.

Under the guidance of Produce Green staff, all participants got some hands-on experience baking organic bread, followed by some real farming work from ploughing the land and fertilising to sowing seeds. After familiarising themselves with organic farming, each participant was given a plant pot set, which allowed them to continue an organic lifestyle at home. Moreover, HKRI Care & Share gave away stationery packs to the participating children to help them prepare for the new school year.

Produce Green Foundation was established in 1988 by a group of local enthusiasts concerned about modern farming and the environment. It aims to promote organic farming and green lifestyles. Produce Green Foundation sets up the first local organic farm in Fanling and the first large-scale elderly community garden in Tsuen Wan. Produce Green Foundation organises organic farming as well as environmental education for people of different ages and backgrounds. By getting in touch with soil, participants can experience a natural way of living.
